ICEA – Istituto per la Certificazione Etica ed Ambientale, Institute for Ethical and Environmental Certification, is one of the most important CB in Italy and Europe.
Ethics Certification Institute (ICEA) (with the group of manufacturers) was founded in 2000 in Rome; it developed regulations for natural and organic cosmetics.
Standard AIAB was developed by ICEA Institute; it is used in all European countries. The certificate is created mainly for food products, but these rules apply to all products that contain certified components and pretend to have label «organic». It is the main certifying body of natural and organic cosmetics (organic cosmetics, Bio-cosmetics, Eco-cosmetics) in Italy.
The basic principles of ICEA are that cosmetics should be environmentally friendly and it must take care of consumer’s health.
Big attention is paid by ICEA to control of industrial processes and storage of organic components and cosmetics.
ICEA requires from certification companies to organize the traceability of industrial process and storage of certified products. So, each stage – from plant ingredients cultivation and processing up to vendition of final certified products – is closely monitored and supervised by manufacturer and ICEA.
